Phebion Kangai
Phebion Kangai is a Lecturer in Art and Design as well as the Coordinator of the Visual Arts Programme at the University of Zimbabwe. He holds Master of Arts in Painting and Drawing from the Iowa State University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Arizona. Mr. Kangai has very wide local and international experience as an artist, visual arts educator, researcher and theorist who has worked with numerous institutions and entities on issues and problems in the visual arts sector.
His particular areas of interest in terms of ongoing teaching and research include visual aesthetics, cognitive semiotics art historiography as well as postmodern / post-colonial perspectives in the critical theory of art. Some of his own art work is represented in the Permanent Collection of the National Gallery of Zimbabwe and private collections overseas. he has also published papers locally and internationally.
