Week 14 of 2017

week 14Cyclist by Kinsley Sambo
The artwork Cyclist depicts two figures who are riding bicycles along a path as the title suggests. Cycling is a common mode of transport, recreation, exercise or sport . It is mainly an aerobic activity,

which means that the heart, blood vessels and lungs all get a workout.  It enables an individual to breathe deeper, and experience increased body temperature, which improves fitness.
This week we celebrate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. This  Day recognizes the growing contribution of sport in development and peace. Sport is a vital form of human expression, which can enhance dignity and strengthen. It not only fosters mutual understanding and peace but also promotes health, fitness  and well-being.
This week we also celebrate the World Health Day . The day marks the founding of World health Organization (WHO) and draws attention to important health issues affecting people around the globe.
The theme for this year's celebration is Depression. This condition affects people of all ages, from all walks of life, in all countries. It impacts on people’s ability to carry out everyday tasks, with consequences for families, friends, workplaces, and health care systems.  Having a better understanding of Depression will help reduce the stigma associated with the illness, and lead to more people seeking help.
