This week we celebrate Africa Day and the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. Held every year on 21 May, the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development celebrates not only the richness of the world’s cultures, but also the essential role of intercultural dialogue for achieving peace and sustainable development. Bridging the gap between cultures is urgent and necessary for peace, stability and development.

Meanwhile, Africa Day, designated by the African Union as an annual celebration of the continent’s unity, is celebrated across the globe on 25th May each year. It presents an opportunity to look into the past and commend our ancestors for their achievements and also to look forward to continue achieving our aspirations.

The artwork Mtshongoyo Dancers is part of the National gallery of Zimbabwe's Permanent Collection of works.  It was acquired in 1991 and is an Oil on Board medium.
