This week we are celebrating. It is observed on June 20 each year. This day honours the courage, spirit, strength, perseverance and determination of millions of women, men and children who are forced to flee their homeland under threat of persecution, conflict and violence. It is also a day to recognize the contributions of refugees in ourcommunities. This year, World Refugee Day also marks a key moment for the public to show support for families forced to flee.
“Refugees” are people like anyone else, like you and me. They led ordinary lives before becoming displaced, and their biggest dream is to be able to live normally again.
On World Refugee Day, let us recall our common humanity, celebrate tolerance and diversity and open our hearts to refugees everywhere.
