Kudzanai Violet Hwami


Born in 1993, Kudzanai is a painter whose work expertly articulates issues about diaspora, displacement and identity. Currently based in London, she crafts

paintings that integrate pastels, charcoal, and other materials. She also experiments Her work has been shown at the Royal Scottish Academy, National Gallery of Zimbabwe, Shonibare Studios in London, and beyond. In 2016 she won the Young Achiever of the Year Award at the Zimbabwean International Women’s Awards, the Clyde and Co Art Award and the Cass Art Materials Grant and was shortlisted for the Bloomberg New Contemporaries Award.
