Artist Profile : Calvin Dondo
Born in Harare, Calvin studied photography at the Harare Polytechnic and he is a freelance photographer who works and lives in Zimbabwe. Calvin is the founder and curator of Gwanza: A month of Photography in Zimbabwe, which is in its 11th year currently.

His passion for story telling through images has won him the overall Bamako Photographic Encounter Award in 2007 in Mali. Dondo took part in a number of exhibition is Zimbabwe and internationally that includes, Visions of Zimbabwe curated by Raphael Chikukwa at the Manchester Art Gallery 2004, Siyaphambili 2000 National Gallery of Zimbabwe, Havana Biennale 2003, Bamako Photography Festival 2002, Photo – Fiesta Mozambique 2002, to mention but a few.

He has exhibited in Zimbabwe, Mali, Senegal, Sweden, South Africa, Germany, France, USA, UK Norway, Canada, and Finland. Calvin is the founding artistic director for Gwanza a month of photography exhibition, which started more than ten years ago. He has been very influential in the development of photography as an art form in Zimbabwe today.
