Artist Profile : Misheck Masamvu
Born Zimbabwe and Masamvu studied Art in Harare and Germany and he is one of the emerging contemporary African artists. He recently won a third prize at the “Live and Direct” exhibition at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe 2010. Masamvu has exhibited in Germany, France, South Africa, Senegal, Netherlands, Italy, Zimbabwe, and UK.

He also exhibited at the Dakar Biennale 2006, and won several awards at the Gallery Delta Zimbabwe. Masamvu studied under the watchful eye of one of Zimbabwe’s veteran artist “Helen Liros”. Despite being a young art Misheck won a number of awards in Zimbabwe and include, the recent Live and Direct at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe.

Misheck is not limited to one medium but always willing to explore new medium and his work always surprises his audiences all time. His return to Zimbabwe from Germany has inspired many artists of his generation and his passion for exploring new ideas has taken him this far.
