| Gallery Shop | On Show at NGZ | What's on?: Live´n´Direct!!! |
The opening of the Live and Direct exhibition at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in May this year revealed not only the outstanding artistic talent in Zimbabwean, but also the diverse offerings on sale produced by young and gifted artists who contributed their time and works towards the success of the exhibition. Art is investment you can appreciate through collection of diverse local artworks. Zimbabwean art is principally symbolic of our culture rather than representing art alone. It reflects a society that has high quality living standards and a skilled social fabric. Therefore, investing in art brings greater awareness into the lives of those who make and own it. More so, purchase of the appropriate art by genuine people not only creates status by association but also creates the desired ambience and is a symbol of high-mindedness. The way in which the art world is organized requires the input of the populace especially the corporate sector. The contributions that were made towards Live and Direct by corporate sponsors such as Kingdom Financial Holdings Limited, Culture Fund Trust of Zimbabwe and Greenwood Park Eye Centre are influential in attracting the interest of the public and other institutions. All sectors of the country have a wide selection to choose from the captivating artworks. African Song by Stanford Derere and Golden Chair by Brian Banda are among the works that can be bought for tourism purposes. Such works would look good in the entrance foyer of hotels, lodges and CEO offices. While Dollar Sign by Danisile Ncube which at the moment stands outside the front entrance of the National Gallery and Gwenzi Remoto by Charles Saujeni are appropriate in decorating outdoors and parks. The home is the most essential place that must be adorned with well-appointed artworks on offer at the Gallery, especially the paintings and stone sculptures. Some examples of the paintings that could enhance your personal space are Where I live by Wyclife Mundopa and Zimbabwean beauty I – III by Andrew Mandaza. Last but not least, our five star luxurious hotels and lodges are going to experience an influx of visitors thus it is worthwhile to invest in a couple of artworks such as Tonga Family by Victor Fire and A straight and bended leaf by Mike Nyakuromba. The sensation brought about by these works in the Live and Direct exhibition are fit for every environment even your spacious gardens. People need not miss out on buying some of Zimbabwe’s best and freshly created artworks that were selected by a panel of eight local and international adjudicators. The reflective works echo a lot of meaning on Zimbabwe and in so doing the show has outdone many expectations and young artists have proven to be experts in their own right. Be part of the great achievements taking place in 2010. Your enlightened and imaginative support for the development of the arts is the key to creating the right image and adding quality to your space.
