The late Colleen Madamombe celebrated the fuller African physique and her distinguishing style was a refreshing approach away from the more traditional mystical works produced by the first generation of Shona sculptors.

NGZ Visual Arts Studio end of year exhibition The National Gallery of Zimbabwe and the Norwegian Embassy take pleasure in exhibiting yet again artworks by final year students from the National Gallery Visual Arts Studios entitled ‘Mavambo’.

The 8th of March marks the International Women’s Day. Apart from taking pleasure in viewing the exhibitions on display a second edition of events has been lined up to celebrate womanhood. The fun filled day for the whole family opens on the 6th of March 2010 at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe.
